We have opted to locate our administrative headquarters in Green Valley, a historic community that traces its roots to 1844. That's when Sarah and Levi Jones built their home, pioneering what would become a thriving hub of cultural and economic activity for African Americans in Arlington County.
Originally called Green Valley, the neighborhood was also known as the Nauck community for many years before reverting to the original name. Despite facing a number of obstacles like widespread racism, discrimination, and Jim Crow laws, Green Valley residents persevered and fought for their right to experience a successful life. The current neighborhood board is hoping to extend this dream into the 21st century.
